It hard to believe that there's been 14 seasons of this irreverent, entertaining and fun show. I was lucky enough to be the developer of the original look and branding system, which has carry forth in some form or another throughout every season. Below are some development and examples from the first four seasons from myself and as you will see in Season 4, and incredible team effort of many talented artists putting together and solidifying the foundation and system of promotional branding identity.
The only option was to lean in to the overall craziness of the show and that, as a designer, are some pretty wonderful words to hear. The costume design was the true inspiration for how this system came to be. Pulling design interpretation for each one of the characters, be it the actual character, or just the fabrics or finish, "totems" were developed for each with the intention of making all of the elements as stand-alone items that could to mixed and matched together to make endless variations. With those laid in in a kaleidoscope manner, based above geometric backgrounds treated with further reference of costumes from the show, a gallery of different elements were prepped to be reassembled as needed. The system was born.
For this season one's work, I'd like to thank Ramona Clarke who assisted in making a custom model of the rabbit in Z-Brush and Jason Smart walked me through the Houdini smoke for the millionth time, thanks guys!

Now that the system was built, we could really lean in for Season 2. Since it was a whole new bunch of costumes, I updated the totems and the immensely talented Ramona Clarke modeled the featured hero heads, of which you can see her breakdown here, which was then was all wrapped in with a more saturated color palette and new font.
Wait...there's more!
Season 4 is when we really hit our stride of detailed reference and execution. This process was unique as this was at the very beginning of quarantine, productions were shut down, and no costumes had been created at the time we needed to commit to a design. We had to figure out a system that relied on the texture and style of costumes rather than anchoring to something specific.
To be honest, there is no way to credit this properly. Almost everything was touched by everyone, a perfect blend of collaboration, talent and respect.

Cool seeing how this evolved, right?
Each season finds it's own identity and it's incredibly validating to see the history of this system throughout the years. An enormous thanks to the amazing artists that work on this as well as our creative manager that put their trust in us and let us go crazy.
